Let’s Work Together.

It’s takes time to turn a character into a hero or an idea into an adventure. It doesn’t happen in a single draft. It takes revisions and adjustments, unpacking and recasting. It takes another set of eyes on your work. I enjoy helping writers in this process—and I like to think that every project I edit grows more into itself.  I have sixteen years of experience editing middle grade and YA novels. I want to share what I know with you.

Services for Novels

Full Manuscript Edit

This is a developmental edit package that includes a tip-to-tail assessment on how to improve your story and writing. I will give you suggestions about characterization, motivation, story arc, pacing, and market trends. When I edit, I like to balance big-picture ideas with concrete examples of what is working and what isn’t. This package replicates how I worked with authors when I was an editor at a major publishing house. It is my very favorite kind of work and something that I feel particularly good at. A Full Manuscript Edit includes a six to eight-page edit letter as well as comments directly on your manuscript. I want each edit I do to feel like a conversation and this package comes with the option to schedule a 45-minute long phone call after I’ve shared my letter to allow you to ask questions, plan your revision, and work through ideas.

$1,200 for up to 75,000 words

Manuscript Overview

This is a good option for writers who aren’t ready to commit to a Full Manuscript Edit, but still want feedback and ideas about how to move forward. I will read your complete manuscript and provide detailed, developmental feedback in the form of an hour-long phone call. We will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript and ideas for how to improve characterization, plot, or any unique concerns that you might have. You will not receive written notes or an edit letter with this package, but you will have an opportunity to hear my suggestions as well as ask questions about your work.

$700 for up to 75,000 words

Query Critique and Synopsis Review

I love a good query letter! You are inviting agents and editors to read your work—and you want something that draws them in. From my time reviewing submissions at a literary agency and a major publishing house, I can tell you that it is exciting to read a query letter that shimmers with possibility. I want to help you craft this kind of first impression for your work. Depending on where you are submitting and what those guidelines call for, I can work with you to create a query letter or query letter and synopsis that reflects the heart and soul behind your project. This package includes a full query or query and synopsis critique plus a round of revisions. You can expect comments made directly on your draft plus written feedback for any bigger issues. I always want the work I do to feel like a dialogue, so this package comes with the option to follow up my first round of feedback with a fifteen-minute phone call where you can ask questions and get specific feedback.

Query Critique $225

Query Critique and Synopsis Review $300
